The Arabian oryx became extinct in the wild 20 years ago.Surviving oryx were reared in Arizona,U.S.A,and the species is now back in the wild.

Desert Birds.

Desert Birds shelter from the daylight heat beneath rocks and plants.

* The Saguaro Cactus found in the Sonoran desert in South-West USA.it can grow up to 15 meters       high, and provides a home foor several desrt birds.Gila woodpeckkers peck out nest holes in the        rubbery Cactus flesh.Tiny elf owls nest in vacant holes amd Cactus wrens nest in forks.

Desert Animals.

Desert animals usually stay out of the daylight heat, in order to conserve water.
Many of the smaller mammals never drink, getting all the moisture they need from seeds, shoots, or, other creatures.
